Normandy History & Paris Culture – C’est Magnifique! - SOLD OUT
March 5 - 14
This travel program combines the ambiance and culture of Paris with the history and geography of Normandy. Whether you enjoy the lovely tree-lined boulevards with their animated cafes or the brilliantly illuminated monuments and squares or the exciting nightlife, Paris invites you in. The “City of Light” offers a vast array of scenic, cultural, culinary and emotional experiences. Normandy is a distinct region on the northern coast of France famous for the D-Day landings of June, 1944. Normandy also offers the beautiful French countryside with deep river valleys and forests, fine manor houses, thatched cottages and picturesque seaport villages.
We’ll explore the American landing sector of the Normandy D-Day beaches, tour the Landing Museum, travel to the American Cemetery at Saint-Laurent and then on to Sainte-Mere-Eglise where the American paratroopers dropped from the sky. We’ll travel to Rouen, the capital of Normandy, for its historic Old Town and Gothic Cathedral Notre Dame and see where Joan of Arc burned at the stake in 1431. Other highlights of this tour include the famous Bayeux Tapestry, Bayeux Cathedral, Pegasus Bridge, the Palace of Versailles and of course, the city of Paris.
Trip includes:
• Round-trip airfare from Chicago
• Accommodations and ground transportation
• European-style buffet breakfast each morning at hotel and lunch in Les Andelys on March 6
