Passion Play Tour - Oberammergau, Germany
June 2010
Nestled high in the Bavarian Alps, Oberammergau is a favorite location for anyone who loves majestic snow-capped mountains and quaint villages, but every ten years this destination achieves mystical proportions. In 2010 the villagers of Oberammergau will perform their 41st Passion Play. The play portrays the Passion of Christ—from the entry into Jerusalem to the Resurrection. Performances are held in the afternoon and evening with an included dinner break in between. The play usually consists of more than 2,000 actors, singers, musicians, and technicians with rehearsals starting at least a year before the event.
While the focus of this tour will be the Passion Play, scheduled touring also includes Garmisch, Innsbruck, Wattens (home of Swarovski crystal), Berchtesgaden, Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle’s Nest as named by the Allied Forces), Neuschwanstein Castle, and Ettal.
