The summer 2008 issue of Northern Now tells the story of the hundreds of volunteer counselors who came to campus to help students, faculty and staff move forward in the aftermath of the February 14 tragedy. Readers will also meet an NIU art professor who brings his expertise as a ceramist and educator to help residents of developing countries produce clean drinking water. Also, meet the mother of a former Huskie football player who smoothes the way for other NFL parents.

The Spring 2008 issue of Northern Now takes readers to Salemi, Sicily, site of NIU’s archaeological field school. Readers will also learn how NIU is meeting the needs of its growing transfer student population through institutional partnerships with Illinois community colleges.
