Meet a Huskie: Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences, Lynda Ransdell

 

Lynda Ransdell, CHHS Dean


Join Lynda Ransdell, who serves as dean of the NIU College of Health and Human Sciences, as she introduces herself to the Huskie community.


An expert on female athlete development and elite female athletes, Dr. Ransdell has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, numerous books and book chapters related to physical activity and public health, physical activity interventions and athlete development. She has also published on the topic of faculty development.


A strong advocate for the health benefits of exercise and sport, Dr. Ransdell served two terms as president of the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport and was the vice president for the National Association of Kinesiology in Higher Education. She is a fellow in the National Academy of Kinesiology, the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Association of Kinesiology in Higher Education. Among the topics she can discuss are Olympic sports (particularly ice hockey and women’s basketball), increasing physical activity among women in underserved populations and growing faculty expertise in health-related research.
