Paws With a Purpose

Saturday, April 18

This year, for the NIU Alumni Association’s second annual “NIU Paws with a Purpose” day, regional alumni leaders have stepped forward to plan a community service project in the following locations.

  • Peoria, IL (this activity will occur on 4/16 from 12pm - 3pm)
  • Chicago, IL
  • Rockford, IL
  • Salem, OR
  • Arizona (Multiple Locations)

NIU Paws with a Purpose is a national extension of NIU Cares Day, which is a day of community service on NIU’s DeKalb campus. This year, NIU Paws With a Purpose will be on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m.-noon.

NIU Cares Day was created in 2007 to allow the University to express its gratitude to its community for their continued support of NIU. If you would like to register as a Team Leader for NIU Cares Day, please click here.

The NIU Alumni Association launched NIU Paws With a Purpose in 2019 in an effort to bring that Huskie spirit and support to their communities.

Past projects have included: painting rooms and buildings for schools and service organizations, helping local organizations prepare for or staff events, cleaning up vacant lots, planting gardens and many other jobs around the community.
