Meet a Huskie: Inclusive Conversations That Matter

Thursday, March 11

Join Dr. Vernese Edghill-Walden and Monique Bernoudy, M.S.Ed. ’92, as they discuss the efforts to make NIU a more inclusive place for all to live, learn and work.

What is NIU doing to create an inclusive community that values everyone and prepares students to succeed in a diverse world? Explore this question and other Diversity, Equity and Inclusion topics.

Edghill-Walden serves as the chief diversity officer, vice president for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and interim chief human resource officer. She is NIU’s first chief diversity officer and has a history of creating change by building cohesive partnerships and asking the hard questions necessary to address systemic issues.

Bernoudy serves as the assistant vice president in Academic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. She graduated from NIU with a master’s in adult education. She has served in many roles at NIU over her nearly 30-year tenure, and social justice education and alumni engagement are among her current responsibilities.
