Local Businesses, Huskie Fans Invited to August 25 Events at Whiskey Acres

Name, Image and Likeness Education Summit to Precede Summer Circuit Gathering with NIU Coaches

NIL Education Summit

Northern Illinois University Athletics will hold a pair of free events at Whiskey Acres (11504 Keslinger Rd., DeKalb) on Thursday, August 25 with fans invited to the End of Summer Circuit featuring NIU head coaches beginning at 5 p.m., preceded by a NIL Education Summit targeted toward the local business community at 3:30 p.m.

Before the Summer Circuit, local businesses are invited to attend the Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) Education Summit. During this one-hour session, Huskie athletics personnel will provide information on the new laws surrounding NCAA student-athletes' ability to profit from their name, image and likeness by partnering with businesses, charities and other organizations. The staff will discuss the ways in which these arrangements can benefit both parties and the regulations surrounding NIL, which can be different from state to state and even among institutions in the same state.

To RSVP for the NIL Education Summit, businesses or individuals are asked to email Courtney Vinson, NIU senior associate athletic director for sports administration, at cvinson1@niu.edu.

The End of Summer Circuit stop in DeKalb brings together coaches from many of NIU's sports programs, including football's Thomas Hammock, basketball coach Lisa Carlsen and volleyball head coach Ray Gooden, along with Sean T. Frazier, NIU vice president and director of athletics and recreation. The coaches will preview their upcoming seasons and share the latest news about their programs. The End of Summer Circuit event is free and open to all fans with no advance registration required. The Treehouse Pie Company food truck will be on hand with Whiskey Acres products also available for purchase.

Purchase NIU football, volleyball and basketball season tickets, pick up 2022-23 posters and schedule cards and get ready for an exciting season of Huskie athletics.
