Friday, Aug. 14

Curious about the world of esports but not sure where to start? Ever wondered what gamers actually do, why esports is growing so rapidly, or how competitive gaming works behind the scenes? Join fellow Huskies for a one-of-a-kind Huskies Night Out on Friday, August 14, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Ellington's Restaurant in the Holmes Student Center.

The evening starts with a plated dinner and complimentary beverage before you gain exclusive access to NIU's state-of-the-art Esports Arena. During this insider experience, you'll tour the facility, meet the people behind Huskie Esports and get a behind-the-scenes look at the technology, teamwork and strategy that power competitive gaming.

Then comes the part everyone talks about: an open, no-holds-barred Q&A where you can ask anything you've ever wanted to know about video games and esports. From careers and competition to screen time, stereotypes and gaming culture — no question is off limits.

Afterward, it's your turn to play. With guidance from esports staff and experienced players, you'll have the opportunity to pick up a controller or keyboard, learn the basics of some of today's most popular games and jump into the action alongside fellow alumni.

Whether you're an avid gamer, a curious parent or someone who's never touched a console, this interactive evening is a fun and welcoming way to discover what esports is all about, connect with fellow Huskies and maybe even discover a new hobby.

Bring a spouse, friend or fellow alumnus and experience a side of NIU that most people never get to see. Space is limited, so register today.
