Judges Needed for Undergraduate Research and Artistry Day and Community Engagement Showcase

Event takes place Wednesday, April 18, inside the Holmes Student Center.

urad-2016

Northern Illinois University’s Undergraduate Research and Artistry Day (URAD) and Community Engagement Showcase (CES) will take place 9:00 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, in the Duke Ellington Ballroom in the Holmes Student Center.

Huskies will have the opportunity to showcase their outstanding research, artistry and community-based engagement projects that they are involved in throughout the academic year. Students present their work through posters, exhibits, table talks or performances and have a chance to place in first, second or third in their respective award category.

URAD and CES judges play a crucial role in this exciting occasion by providing professional feedback on the students’ presentation skills. We would love for you to join us and serve as a judge for the event. Judging consists of rating a student’s poster presentation or exhibit on the overall design, relevance of the project, appropriate methods used and interaction.

No prior training or background is needed to serve as a judge. An example of the rubric used to evaluate student presentations can be viewed here. Additionally, you can view last year's program to gain a better idea of the kinds of work that our students present at this event.

If you are interested in volunteering to judge, please register at https://go.niu.edu/URAD by March 25.

Judges are needed for the following sessions:

  • Session One: 9 a.m.-10:15 a.m.
  • Session Two: 10:15 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
  • Community Engagement Showcase: 12 p.m.-2 p.m.
  • Session Three: 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
  • Session Four: 12:45 p.m.-2 p.m.

If you are unable to serve as a judge for the event, stop by and view the impressive projects by our Huskies. Feel free to contact us at URAD@niu.edu or 815-753-8154 if you have any questions about judging or URAD and CES. Thank you for considering!
