Huskies Connect: Washington, D.C.
NIU Dance Ensemble at National College Dance Festival Reception
Join us at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Students from the NIU dance program performed at the Central Conference of the American College Dance Association at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in March.
Their performance was of such high quality that they earned the top honor at the conference and an invitation to perform at the National College Dance Festival on June 9 at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
The dance ensemble will perform a piece called “ENUF,” choreographed by NIU School of Theatre and Dance professor Paula Frasz.
"ENUF" reflects on the present and imagines a future rooted in the long civil rights movement, from the abolishment of slavery to Black Lives Matter. Through athleticism, the performance creates collective and individual bodies of protest and power.
We hope you will join us at one of the performances listed below and for a reception to celebrate this milestone for our dance ensemble and NIU.
The reception will be held at 4:30 p.m. ET in the North Atrium Foyer and features heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, dessert and coffee. Please RSVP to this free reception by clicking the link below.
A limited number of tickets to see either dance performance can be purchased for $25 each. Tickets can be picked up at will call at the Kennedy Center box office.
