Lunch and Learn: "Fossil Mammals or Fantastic Beasts" with NIU Professor Daniel Gebo

Meet 2014 Illinois Professor of the Year, as he gives a lunch presentation on Thursday, June 14, about his research on tiny primates and shares findings about large beasts that roamed North America, including Illinois.

During "Lunch and Learn" in the NIU Chicago office, Dr. Gebo will talk about fossils larger than elephants, called megafauna; animals with odd horns; a giant ape; and his research on tiny primates (smaller than a mouse), which mark the beginning of all primates, including humans. His work has been published in top science journals, including "Nature" and "Science."
Doors will open at 11:45 a.m. and Gebo will talk to guests from 12:15 to 12:40 p.m. A short question and answer session will follow.
The presentation is free and boxed lunches will be provided as an option for $10 with a choice of sandwiches, chips and cookies. Bottled water and assorted soft drinks will be available.
Registration (below) is required. Space is very limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
