cob-katie-duxburyKatie Duxbury is a talent acquisition manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) and was the lead recruiter for PwC at NIU for over three years. During her time aligned to NIU, Duxbury led a dedicated team of alumni and professionals to solidify PwC as the largest employer of NIU Accountancy students. Northern Illinois University students accepted over 125 intern and associate offers with PwC during her tenure, and Duxbury prides herself in knowing each student individually.

Duxbury is a passionate advocate of diversity and inclusion. She oversees PwC’s Start Internship program for the central market, which is PwC’s early internship program with a focus on diversity. Duxbury also leads a national team that plans and executes training for over 500 Start interns nationally each summer. Over the past three years, NIU has become one of the largest sources for Start interns into the PwC Chicago office. She also collaborated with Matt Ward (PwC Firm Relationship Partner for NIU), Accountancy faculty, the NIU Office of Diversity and NIU President Lisa Freeman to establish NIU as a signatory of the

CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace. Finally, Duxbury has facilitated multiple Blind Spots, Aspire to Lead and Color Brave discussions on campus, bringing awareness of unconscious bias to NIU students and faculty.

She has received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Marquette University. She joined PwC as an intern and then associate in international tax services, where she worked for multiple years before discovering an affinity for recruiting. In addition to NIU, Duxbury has served on the recruiting team for University of Notre Dame, Marquette University, University of Illinois, Indiana University and University of Wisconsin-Madison. Duxbury approaches recruiting with an individualistic mindset and a focus on discovering the potential in every student. One of the greatest compliments she receives as a recruiter is when students or faculty assume she is an alumna because of the relationships she has formed.

Duxbury currently resides in Oak Park with her husband, Mike. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering through Big Shoulders Fund. Duxbury donates her time as a volleyball coach at a local Catholic grade school which serves Chicago’s near west side community.
