Welcome to the Golden Huskie Alumni Network and the Golden Huskie Newsletter.
Our goal is to provide Golden Huskies with meaningful stories, event updates and opportunities to stay connected and engaged with NIU.
What is a Golden Huskie?
Anyone who graduated from NIU 50 or more years ago is a Golden Huskie. For example, the class of 1975 became Golden Huskies in 2025. If you graduated in 1968, you became a Golden Huskie in 2018, whether you transferred to NIU or earned a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree!

The Golden Huskie Alumni Network will continue the tradition of hosting events during NIU’s Homecoming week -- and this year’s two-day program will be just as grand.
Join fellow alumni at Jonamac Orchard, embark on an NIU campus bus tour and participate in NIU football gameday activities in Mission's Grove and more. Make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to meet up with old classmates or connect with other Golden Huskies during our exclusive reception on Friday night! Guests are welcome.

Rock Out with the Golden Huskies
Join fellow Golden Huskies from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, at Class VI for wine and delicious charcuterie before heading to see the Cornerstones of Rock at the Egyptian Theatre at 5 p.m.
Attendees will enjoy an exclusive opportunity for a meet and greet with the members of the Ides of March, including Golden Huskie Bob Bergland, ’71, M.B.A. ’75.

Golden Huskie Come Together to Support Current Huskies
The Golden Huskie Alumni Network proudly connects NIU alumni back to the University and supports the enrichment of the current student experience. This year, the Network raised over $75,000 to support student scholarships and activities at NIU. Thank you to all of the passionate Huskies who contributed to these efforts!
