We're so happy that you're a part of the Golden Huskie Alumni Network, and we hope you enjoy our second Golden Huskie Newsletter.

Our goal is to continue to provide Golden Huskies with meaningful information and stories, event updates and opportunities to stay engaged with NIU and your fellow Golden Huskies.

A Snapshot of NIU Golden Huskies

As a reminder, anyone who graduated from NIU 50 or more years ago is a Golden Huskie, which means YOU are a Golden Huskie. For example, the class of 1975 became Golden Huskies in 2025. If you graduated in 1968, you became a Golden Huskie in 2018, whether you transferred to NIU or earned a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree!

NIU 118th Homecoming 2025

NIU Golden Huskies Homecoming October 2-4, 2025!

The Golden Huskie Alumni Network will continue the tradition of hosting events during NIU’s Homecoming Week. Round up your classmates and put the dates on your calendars for a memorable time at NIU. Come back and enjoy the activities and see what’s all new on campus. You will not regret the trip!

Let’s highlight the events created by the Golden Huskie Homecoming Committee.

A themed lecture on Friday morning, a campus bus tour narrated by a Golden Huskie and a NIU student providing unforgettable insight to the old and new at NIU, followed by an opportunity to have lunch in Neptune Hall.

You can also join in for an afternoon at Jonamac Orchard for lite fare and drinks. And Friday night … you cannot miss the exclusive Golden Huskie reception, and your guests are welcome.

And on Homecoming Game Day, enjoy brunch in the beautiful renovated Altgeld Hall and then head over to Mission's Grove for pre-game activities and visit the Golden Huskie tent.

Check out the full schedule of events during NIU Homecoming weekend. Do not miss the opportunity to reconnect with your classmates and to meet other Golden Huskies. It will be a memorable time for all!

Golden Huskie Scholarship Recipient Named

Lauryn Wells, a sophomore at NIU, was the recipient of the Golden Huskie General Scholarship Award. Wells was recently accepted into the NIU nursing program and exemplified Huskie grit and tenacity in pursuing her goals.

“Continuing my education at NIU so that I can graduate and become a nurse has been one of my most blessed experiences… thank you so much,” Wells said. “Without [donors' support], I would not be able to make it happen.”

Thank you to all who contributed to the Golden Huskie Scholarship Fund this year.
