Dear Greek Alumni,
Homecoming 2025 at Northern Illinois University was a celebration to remember! From the spirited March of the Huskies and campus gatherings to the excitement of the big game, Huskie pride was on full display. The Greek community once again played an essential role in making the weekend such a success — showing leadership, unity and tradition that continue to strengthen NIU’s legacy.
On behalf of the university and the NIU Greek Alumni Network Leadership, thank you for your continued support, enthusiasm and involvement. Your presence and dedication help keep our brotherhoods and sisterhoods thriving, connecting past and present generations of Huskies. Fraternity and Sorority Life Recruitment and Retention Updates
|
|
Utilizing new technology and creative recruiting methods, the FSL community grew by 325 students this Fall!
Chapters of the Interfraternity Council welcomed 143 new members.
Chapters of the Panhellenic Council saw their highest post-pandemic turnout with 104 registrants, resulting in 28% community growth since 2021.
Multicultural Greek Council and National Panhellenic Council celebrated new members across multiple chapters, strengthening cultural Greek life.
Overall, retention shines at 91% of new members! Our vibrant community is building and continues to grow with expansion prospects including Omega Delta Fraternity, Phi Rho Eta Fraternity Inc., Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.!
The Greek Honor Society, Order of Omega – Zeta Eta Chapter (pictured above), is back and thriving at NIU! Re-established in Spring 2025, it inducted 21 students then and 25 across all four councils this fall, continuing a tradition shared by more than 500 alumni.

NIU Center for Greek Life Update

The NIU Center for Greek Life is moving forward with an updated project plan!
The Center’s project team has thoughtfully refined the original vision to accelerate the timeline and bring this transformational facility to campus sooner. The design has been right-sized to prioritize the most essential and highest-impact elements and remains a vital investment in Greek Life that will rely on continued alumni partnership and support to become a reality. | Summer Conferences Inspire NIU Fraternity and Sorority Leaders |

Women’s Tugs Raises More Than $12,000 |
NIU fraternity and sorority leaders attended conferences energized and ready to lead this summer! They gained skills, built networks and brought back ideas that strengthen our Huskie community.

NIU’s Panhellenic Women’s Tugs raised over $12,000 in support of Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association, featured five sorority teams, and ended with Alpha Sigma Alpha winning a record-long championship match, celebrating tradition, teamwork and philanthropy.

| Mark your calendars for NIU’s Interfraternity Council philanthropic event, Men’s Tugs, which raised over $11,000 in support of the Center for Greek Life last year! Matches will occur throughout the week of April 13–18. |

Huskie Highlights
|
|
• Sigma Nu Fraternity honored Aidan O’Brien as an Alpha Affiliate and Kevin Kedzior as Chapter Advisor of the Year, recognizing exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to fraternity ideals during the 2024–2025 academic year.
• NPHC hosted its 15th annual Step Show on Homecoming. The show featured a performance by Chicago artist Fendi da Rappa and once again welcomed the Homewood-Flossmoor High School step team for an incredible performance. Congratulations to the Zeta Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Iota Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. for winning the competition this year.
