NIU continues to monitor closely the dynamic developments for coronavirus (COVID-19) with a focus on the health and well-being of our university community.

Under the direction of the DeKalb County Health Department, NIU has canceled all events with more than 25 attendees through at least April 6. We acknowledge the impact that the cancellation of events has on participants, spectators and more, but we must prioritize public health at this time.

The NIU Division of University Advancement (NIU Alumni Association and NIU Foundation) had planned a robust calendar of events in the upcoming weeks. In an abundance of caution, we are canceling all in-person events through April 30, including NIUAA travel program trips and volunteer activities. Discussions are in progress about potentially rescheduling some of these events.

The NIU Alumni Association Travel Program has been impacted by COVID-19, as the Federal Travel ban from Europe has necessitated the cancellation of our scheduled trip to Portugal (April 15-26).
